Work Perk: Flux Lighting

Every year, Flux Lighting drops by the office with egg rolls. The best egg rolls.
It is a real treat, especially since this time of year brings on so many sweets.

This year was a little different, however.
Flux wanted us to come and see their new showroom, so they were going to send a bus to pick us up.

Unnecessary Junking: Pakenham

It has been a while since my last blog post.
This new job has me staying much later, but is so much more gratifying than my last.
All that to say, that by the time I get home, walk the dog and eat... there is no time or daylight left to do anything outside.

Poo.

I Love Lamp: Moody Blues

This MCM floor lamp was one of the first items I bought at the Almonte Antique Market with my X-mas gift certificate... and it is the fifth project in my "I Love Lamp" series... I might love lamp too much. This is starting to get obscene!

Junking: Unnecessary Items

I may have created a monster.
My hubby calls me at work to tell me that he found a new thrift store. Great!
Then he says that he found a chair and he was going to send me a photo right now.
What? Umm, okay? Wait, why isn't he at work? Oh, here is the photo... hmmm, not too bad.
So I tell him, if he likes it to pick it up.

That was last week.
Today, we had different plans, but somehow ended up going junking.
First stop, our favorite little honey-hole.

Ellen's Ranch: Eclectically Gorgeous

Elle Decor recently did a photo spread of Ellen & Portia's ranch in Southern California.

You can find it at http://www.elledecor.com with the whole article.
The ranch is made up of cabins, barns and the stables.

Cabin 6: What struck me, was the absolute easy-going eclecticness of their ranch's decor.
They certainly have some signature pieces, like mid-century Danish shairs, but also a lot of rustic and antique furniture that makes the space so much more interesting.

I Love Lamp: MCM Lamp Reveal

Remember this one? I first found it here.
This MCM lamp, at first, looks in good shape but upon closer examination, it has a lot of chips and stains.

I Love Lamp: Shade Solution

As per my last post, meltingplastic bought a lamp with a really bad shade on it.
Find the post here.
She hated it, (and who wouldn't!) so I offered to take it off her hands and experiment with re-covering it.

It was me, my hubby, and meltingplastic!
Thanks to meltingplastic, I know more junking locations than ever before!

Junking: The 3 Week Binge

3 weekends of junking in a row!
My hubby, myself and our friend (who showed us a whole whack of junk shops that we had not yet discovered) went junking 2 weeks in a row, followed by another with just my hubby and me.

This is a piece that will certainly need some work, but I have big plans for it.
The artwork inside is garbage, but that isn't why I bought it.

You might remember reading my blog about finding this lamp a month ago when we went garage-saling.

Antiquing Finds: A great day!

We had an amazing day antiquing today. My husband is convinced this officially makes us old, but secretly, he really enjoys the hunt.

Garage Sale Finds

Today we went to our local garage sales, and managed to find a few really cool and fun pieces.

The first item I found was this box full of DIY books. They range from Basic Home Repairs, to Basic Wiring Techniques, to (my favorite) Furniture Repair & Refinishing. Can't go wrong for only $3 for the entire box.

I Love Lamp: Articulating Floor Lamp

I found this little gem at my favorite second-hand furniture shop for $8. The shop is a little out of the way, but they often have some really great items. If you like something, however, you have to buy it on the spot, lest it get taken away by someone else.
