Bookcase: Organization and Display

A bookcase is an interesting piece of furniture. More often than not, it becomes a cluttered mess of collected items. Nothing ends up standing out, except the eyesore of it all.

When we lived in our condo a few years ago, that was exactly what happened to our Ikea bookcase.
Once in our new house, it was a new opportunity to make the book shelf everything I always wanted it to be. Of course, it is always changing, and so I thought I would take go ahead and show you its current iteration before it transforms into something else.

 Starting with a blank slate (a blank house at this point), we positioned the bookcase on a wall so that it was the first thing you saw when you headed toward the TV room.

Unnecessary Junking: Kingston, Ontario

A few weeks ago, I went to Kingston to visit my husband who was there for a week long stay. Kingston is a super cute city with a lot of heritage. In fact, Kingston used to be Canada's capital before Ottawa was named as such.

Anyway, the hotel that Hubby was staying in was directly across the street from this Antique/Flea Market.
Yes, I know people... this does spell disaster for a chronic thrift-er like me.

These photos really don't show how huge it was - there were several barns to go through.

Junking: Unneccesary Items

Okay, as you know from yesterday's post photos, I went to the McHaffie Flea Market in Morrisburg yesterday. As promised, here is what I actually brought home:

Lets start with the usual... I am always looking for a good cloche.... and, I found one.
I have big plans for this that include Jay & Silent Bob... more on that later. $3.

Artwork: Garage-Sale/Sail-boats find a home!

I bought these fantastic sailboat watercolours at a garage sale... I spoke a bit about them in this post.

I bought the artwork just because I thought the line work in it was phenomenal, and the watercolour was good. Also, each of the works were fairly local to here. When I got home, I started to do some research on Ben Babelowsky. Turns out he is a well-known Ottawa artist, and has work in collections throughout the world. Soooo Yay me! This four-part is called "Tall Ships" from 1984.

Fan Fun

I found this fun little Caframo fan at Value Village for a couple of bucks. On a whim I decided to buy it.
Despite its small size, it pushes a significant amount of air, and its quirky triangular stand is appealing to me.

Upon getting it home, I realized that it has an un-polarized plug on it. That tells me that it has a little bit of age to it. Since I find history of things very interesting, I started googling Caframo and their products. This is what I know: Caframo started in 1955 and are Canadian.
