Recipe: DIY ice cream

We made ice cream!
Honest to goodness, real ice cream.

Two ingredients: Cream and sweetened condensed milk.

Add a husband willing to put in the effort (and a lot of goofiness).

So easy: Whip the cream to soft peaks. Add condensed milk and whip until firmer peaks.
Now you have ice cream base.
You can now put it into a container and freeze it (vanilla), or start adding stuff to it first.

We added a bunch of ingredients that we happened to have in the cupboard and in the fridge.
Very simple additions.

Pecan maple: Pecan bits and a Canadian staple.
Strawberry: Minced strawberries and Quik strawberry sauce.

Coconut Chocolate: Shredded coconut and chocolate syrup.
Skor: This is the second time we have made homemade ice cream, so we had leftover Skor pieces and added chocolate syrup.

The trick is to not mix it too much, so that as it freezes with striations of flavour.

This is the first time that I have actually enjoyed strawberry ice cream.
For less than $10 we made four different flavours of ice cream, and it is delicious.
