After debating what to do with my own tree, I thought this post might be helpful to those who have yet to put their trees up. I can guarantee that my in-laws have yet to do this, as they always wait until the very last minute. It's a cute tradition that includes a few drinks, decorating the tree, wrapping presents and talking until the wee hours of the morning... all on Christmas Eve. I can never stay up that late, and the thought of doing all of this on Christmas eve gives me an ulcer.
Now, having said all of that... I recently went to the Christmas Store here in our little town, and took a few photos of inventive tree decorations.
Red and Silver on a standard tree.
I like the use of holly berries and painted cones.
AND, since barn stars are a staple in the Valley, it only seems fitting that this tree is topped with one.
I love the mix of small traditional sleds with knit and crocheted ornaments.
All white trees are still in fashion. I like this one with the blue and teal accents.
No topper, and yet it does not look unfinished.
I was quite smitten with this black tree. The gold ornamentation looks amazing on it.
I especially like the unconventional use of a masquerade mask as part of the decoration. So very pretty, and gives the tree a different mood.
I think my absolute favorite tree is this more rustic looking tree. So much burlap and tin is used on it, and it looks so great.
I swoon for this burlap and lace garland,
Anyway, I found all of these trees inspiring. I wonder what I will do with my tree next year?
My tree has been acquired. No decorations yet, though.
ReplyDeleteMaybe these will inspire you!! Can't wait to see your finished product.
DeleteMy favorite one was the one that was in our living room. All the rest of those fancy trees can suck it. (in a respectful manner)
ReplyDeleteDid you notice all the trees you photographed had horizontal ribbons?! Because you are so damn on trend.
ReplyDeleteI love the black and white trees, but I don't know if I could have them in my home. The rustic burlap one is my favourite though. Probably because it's the most inviting and it looks homemade.
And happy holidays Wheele household! I hope Santa was good to you this year ;) xxxxxx
He was indeed, Alex. Of course you like the burlap one... I do!
