Fortune smiles on us once in a while, and for us, it was last year when our friends Jeff & Helen gave us a beautiful patio table set. For FREE!! Being that it was late in the summer, AND we didn't really have our back patio ready for such a thing, we stored it. Sometime between then and now, we managed to lose the connector for the legs. Doh!
Before I get into the DIY aspect, I wanna mention that my friends Jeff & Helen are probably a couple of the neatest people I know. My hubby and I have had the pleasure of being in a couple of their horror shorts and some of their photo shoots.
Check out heLENS photography to see her work.
Or here to see us as models. LOL!!!

Junking: Unnecessary Items
I may have created a monster.
My hubby calls me at work to tell me that he found a new thrift store. Great!
Then he says that he found a chair and he was going to send me a photo right now.
What? Umm, okay? Wait, why isn't he at work? Oh, here is the photo... hmmm, not too bad.
So I tell him, if he likes it to pick it up.
That was last week.
Today, we had different plans, but somehow ended up going junking.
First stop, our favorite little honey-hole.

Renovation: Victorian in Powell River
A few years ago, I was visiting my parents in Powell River. Their friend, Victoria, lived across the street, and was renovating a home exactly like their house. The area is called, 'the Old Townsite', and the style of home is found throughout the area. According to the Powell River Historical Site, this architecture was defined as 'the street facing gable'.
There is a fairly good chance that the second house in this photograph is my parents home, about 100 years ago. My Mom can confirm...
This house, however, is absolutely the one across the street.
Victoria and Steve had passed by this house many times, always feeling that one day they would buy it and renovate. One day, it went up for sale, and so they seized the opportunity. Of course, this is not the condition that the house was in the day they bought it...

Boring TV Wall Part 2: Fun Full of Chalk
The last time i posted on this project was back at this post.
Well, there has been a few more projects on the go since then.
I found some cheap VV Boutique picture frames, and painted them white.

Furniture Design: Toboggan
Since I work in commercial design - I am keenly aware of the innovative designs that come from the 5 major manufacturers: Teknion, Steelcase, Haworth, Herman Miller, and Knoll.
One such example is the new Toboggan desk/chair hybrid by Antenna Design - for Knoll.
Its simple lines are unassuming and the steel tube and bent plywood are reminiscent some of our favorite mid-century modern designers.

Ellen's Ranch: Eclectically Gorgeous
Elle Decor recently did a photo spread of Ellen & Portia's ranch in Southern California.
You can find it at http://www.elledecor.com with the whole article.
The ranch is made up of cabins, barns and the stables.
Cabin 6: What struck me, was the absolute easy-going eclecticness of their ranch's decor.
They certainly have some signature pieces, like mid-century Danish shairs, but also a lot of rustic and antique furniture that makes the space so much more interesting.

Junking: Unnecessary Items
Another excellent junking trip!!
Sometimes I have no idea what I am going to do with something when I buy it, but am always confident that I will find a use for it.
I am partially scared that this is how hoarders start out....
For example, I can always find a use for a glass cover!

Bench Reveal: Phoning It In
I picked up a great telephone bench (2 actually) and i have finally gotten around to re-furbishing it.
I found it at VV boutique - Value Village to those not in the know - along with all of these items.
Funnily enough, I did this project today, not because I was dying to do the telephone bench... (which I was) but more because I have been in an incredible picture framing mood. One of the items I framed recently was this huge rock band poster. It deserved to be framed simply because it comes with a great story.
